This workshop is going to be absolutely filled with stunning locations up on the mountain and in the gorge below. This time of the year in the Pacific Northwest provides tons of breathtaking  locations just about anywhere you go! The mountain is likely to still have plenty of snow around it which helps to simplify many of the landscapes that aren't as compelling in the summer while also being more accessible for those that don't want to brave well below freezing temperatures of winter.

The gorge is where we will be spending the majority of our time though as there are hundreds of visually Gorge-ous spots to visit! There was recently a forest fire that caused quite a bit of destruction in the gorge area, but there are still some locations untouched by the fire on the Oregon and Washington sides we will be able to visit. Also, this is the time of the year that is very popular to shoot wildflowers as they should be in full bloom! We will be going to a couple locations to take advantage of this throughout our time in the gorge!

This workshop will cover both photographing landscapes in the field as well as the post-processing at home. Also, I will be teaching you how to location scout in advance of a trip in order to plan for success on any adventure regardless of the conditions. Instruction in skills like focus stacking, focal length blending, and more are included.

Skill/Fitness Level

Any level of photographer from novice to advanced amateur will find great value in this opportunity. It will be very difficult for any photographer of any skill level to walk away with no portfolio quality images as we visit top notch spots throughout the workshop. As for your fitness level, most of the locations will be within a mile or less from where you can park your car!

We will be meeting on the first day of the workshop 1 hour before sunrise. It is an easy drive from Portland and everything we will be shooting is located very close to each other. We will be taking advantage of all the possible good light with beautiful forests to shoot in and the mountain for sunrise/sunset! Plan to pack extra batteries as we will be shooting all day as well as rain gear to keep yourself and your gear dry. The location of the last day of the workshop will be decided based on the conditions presented to us and will conclude shortly after sunset that day.

If your goal is to capture portfolio quality images this is the workshop for you! Not only are you going to be going to many five star locations, but you will be getting instruction on how to plan out your own trips to different spots and how to properly photograph them while there. I am confident that not only can I help you get great images here, but also give you the tools necessary to capture your own in the future!
